We are not the point.

The families are. HopeBridge exists to be useful and then to get out of the way. That is an unusual thing for an organisation to want, and it is the reason we work the way we do.

HopeBridge Community Foundation was incorporated federally in 2026 under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, with its registered office in Ontario. It was founded by Funmilayo Deborah Ogabi, who serves as Executive Director.

We are early. Rather than announce numbers we have not earned, we have spent the first stretch building governance that will hold: a board, bylaws, financial controls, a conflict-of-interest policy and a privacy policy. The unglamorous things that decide whether an organisation is still trustworthy in ten years.

How we work

Four rules we hold ourselves to.

  1. P1

    Ask first, build second

    Every programme here started as something somebody asked us for. None of them started in a strategy document. When we guess wrong, we stop and say so.

  2. P2

    Finish things

    A programme with no end date is a programme nobody is accountable for. Ours have defined lengths, and we measure whether they worked after they stop.

    Publish the misses

    Our annual report includes what did not work. An organisation that only reports good news is telling you it is not measuring.

  4. P4

    Stay small enough to know names

    We would rather run three programmes where staff know every family than nine where people become case numbers.

How we are held to account

HopeBridge is incorporated federally under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. A volunteer board meets quarterly, and financial statements are published in full each year.
